Pop-Up Artist Book: A Journey Through Art, Flowers, and Math
This project was my very first assignment for Elements of Design with Professor Kristin Miller. For it, I created a hand-crafted pop-up artist book that traces moments from my life and the way art, flowers, and math have always woven themselves together.
Each page tells a small part of that story:
Page 1 opens with a Holly Hobbie lunchbox, crayons, and my earliest flower drawings.
Page 2 flips to a tiny notebook filled with geometric shapes and floral doodles.
Page 3 builds into tangram puzzles arranged as flowers.
Page 4 blossoms with symmetric blue pop-up petals.
Page 5 reveals a Rubik’s Cube with a tiny flower mosaic.
Page 6 features a camera with a working shutter capturing snapshots of blooms.
And the final spread displays mini watercolor paintings and a pop-up cup holding paintbrushes.
This book became a playful way for me to explore storytelling through form—and to reflect on how creativity has always been part of my world.
